The forecasts for Missouri continue to bring bad news as a dome of pressure keeps temperatures high and chances for rain low. Even locally spotty showers are being met with a bit of a "too little too late" attitude as crops wither, pastures yellow and even mature trees are dropping leaves. High temperature records aren't the only ones being broken this week as Missouri also posted record cash bids on corn, at 8.34, and soybeans, at 17.44. Producers in all areas of the state are beginning to look at herd reduction to weather the hard times of present and the unknown around the corner. Hay prices are firm and are leaving some wondering where the price ceiling is for grass hay. Demand is very good. Supplies available for purchase are very light. Missouri Department of Agriculture has a hay directory available for both buyers and sellers.
