Darrel Lee Morlan, 62, of Monett passed away on Thursday July 12, 2012 at his home. He was born on July 6, 1950 in Wheaton, Mo., the son of Beulah (Potter) Morlan and the late Jack Morlan. He was united in marriage on Sept. 18, 1970 in Monett, Mo. to Donna Spain, she survives.

He was a retired rural letter carrier for the U.S. Post Office and was active in his home church, First Baptist in Cassville, Mo. Darrel also sang gospel music across the United States with several groups, including The Morlan Family, The Gospel Lads, and The Signature Quartet.

Darrel is survived by his mother, Beulah Morlan; wife, Donna Morlan, Monett; one son, John Morlan, wife, Erin, Monett; one daughter, Julie Morlan, Purdy; one brother, Dale Morlan, Monett; two sisters, Clara Dodson, Purdy, and Janie Knight, Purdy; several nieces, nephews, extended family, and good friends. He is preceded in death by his father Jack.

Graveside services for Darrel are being held on Tuesday, July 17, at 10 a.m. at Arnhart Cemetery in Purdy, Mo. with Dr. John Duncan officiating. Family and friends are welcome to call anytime after 12 p.m. on Monday, July 16, 2012 at Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett, Mo.

There will be a singing celebration of Darrel's life on Sunday, July 29, 2012 at 7 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Cassville, Mo.

In lieu of flowers or plants, the family requests donations in Darrel's name to The Show Me Christian Youth Home or Royal Family Kids Camp. Or, as Darrel always suggested, just go out and have a nice dinner with someone you love.

Arrangements are under the care of Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett, Mo.
