Wesley "Brownie" Brown, 89, of Monett passed away on Tuesday July 3, 2012 at Cox Monett Hospital in Monett, Mo. He was born on July 8, 1922 in Brooks, Iowa, the son of the late Warren and Elizabeth (Boham) Brown. He was united in marriage on May 22, 1965 to Thelma Sowersby, she survives.
He was retired from Tyson's in Monett, helped Santa (Lynn Thornton) fixing bicycles for children at Christmas time and served in the Army during World War II.
Wesley is survived by his wife, Thelma; three sons, Larry Brown, Monett, and Douglas and William Brown, both of Cassville, Mo.; one step-son, George Sooter; three step-daughters, Sue Holland, Pierce City, Mo., Jenny Elsey, Bella Vista, Ark., and Mary Denney, Monett; one sister, Verda England, Seattle, Wash.; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by both his parents: Warren and Elizabeth; one brother, Warren Brown, Clarinda, Iowa; and four sisters, Mary Krueger, Creston, Iowa, Marjorie Barns, Clarinda, Iowa, Viona Gardner, Faber, Iowa, and Lola Hams.
Memorial services were held Monday July 16, 2012 at 9 a.m. at the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Springfield, Mo.
