Mildred Lugar

Mildred Catherine Lugar, age 93, of Broken Arrow, Okla., passed from this life on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 while at the Clare House in Tulsa, Okla. Mildred was born on May 7, 1919 in Miami, Okla., the daughter of the late Winfred Lindell Warnick and Harriette (Blodwen) Warnick. She was a graduate of Dawn High School in Dawn, Mo. and later furthered her education at Missouri Southern State College, receiving her bachelor's of science in education.

For over 13 years, Mildred taught at the elementary school in Exeter, Mo. She retired in 1990. She was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star - Sylvan Chapter, Verona, Mo., a member of the Welch Presbyterian Church in Los Angeles, Calif., as well as an avid traveler, especially to China.

On Sept. 1, 1945 in Troy, Kan., Mildred and Alfred Leroy Lugar were united in marriage. He preceded her in death on May 22, 1990. Also preceding her in death were two brothers, Jasper D. Warnick and Winfred Lindell Warnick Jr.; and one sister, Harriette F. Warnick. She is survived by two sons, Gary Lugar and wife, Rosemary, of Monett and Lindell Lugar and wife, Jeanette, of Monett; one daughter, Mary McNutt, of Broken Arrow, Okla., five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at the Welch Cemetery in Dawn, Mo. Bob Neal will officiate. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday at the Buchanan Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be given to the charity of choice in care of the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home.
