Ruth Ellen D'Arcy passed away at 5:30 a.m. on Thursday July 12, 2012 at her residence in Monett, Mo. She was born on Oct. 13, 1922 in Broadview, Mont., the daughter of Webster and Grace (Reintsma) Lasater. Her mother died when Ruth was very young and her father married Anne Bloedau in 1929.
She married Charles E. D'Arcy on Feb. 9, 1947 in Boulder, Colo. He preceded her in death on Nov. 10, 2004. They served churches in Colorado, South Dakota and Missouri. Chuck was pastor of the Waldensian Presbyterian Church in Monett from 1972-1990.
During the last few years, her interests and efforts were devoted to the Love a Child Inc. mission project in Haiti. She sponsored a health clinic and other projects to improve the lives of orphaned children. She was a member of clubs and organizations that include the Hawthorn Club, Lee Club, Waldensian Missionary Women and American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include two daughters, Ann Marie George and husband, Joe, of Pittsburg, Kan. and Sharon Kaye Parrigon and her husband, Gary, of Verona, Mo.; one son, David Charles D'Arcy and his wife, Debbie, of Columbus, Ohio; six granddaughters and one grandson; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Roy Lasater and his wife, Bonnie; one sister-in-law, Kaye Johns. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Marie Anderson.
Visitation will be held on Friday July 13, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett, Mo. Services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at the Waldensian Presbyterian Church in Monett. Burial will follow at the Waldensian Cemetery.
