A girls basketball camp will be held July 16 through July 18 at Monett Middle School. Sessions will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. for grades three through six and from 10:30 a.m. to noon for grades seven and eight. Cost is $20 and includes a camp T-shirt. Sign-up will be held on the first day of camp.

The Macedonia Free Will Baptist Church, near Purdy, will hold Vacation Bible School from July 16 through July 20, with sessions from 6 to 8 p.m. The theme is "The Armor of God." All area children are invited. For more information, call 417-737-1453.

A rabies clinic will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, July 21, at the South Park in Pierce City, at the west pavilion, sponsored by the Animal Clinic of Monett and the Pierce City Police Department. Cost is $7.50 per animal.

A fall girls fastpitch hitting league will be held on Saturdays at Monett North Park from Aug. 4 through Sept. 8. There will be divisions for grades five through eight and grades nine to 12. A luncheon will be hosted by Tom Wolfe Memorial Post #4207 Ladies Auxiliary from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 18. The menu includes oven fried chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, salads, dessert and beverage for $6. The Post is located west of Monett on Highway 60.

Sign-ups for Pierce City Mighty Mites will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on July 21 and July 28 at the high school baseball complex at Pierce City's North Park. For more information, call 417-393-9355.

The Pleasant Ridge Special Road District commissioners will meet at 7 p.m. on Monday, July 16, at the Pleasant Ridge school house on Highway Z.

Vacation Bible School at Chapel of Grace will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. July 16 through July 20. The theme is "Babylon: Daniel's Courage in Captivity." Chapel of Grace is located south of Highway 60 on Farm Road 1060. For more information, call 235-7545 or 236-9072.

Vacation Bible School at the First Christian Church of Purdy will have opening ceremonies on Saturday, July 14, at 6:30 p.m., including a parade of nations and a running of the torch. The theme is "Christian Olympics." Classes will be held July 15 through July 18 at 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. For more information, call 417-442-7445.

The Lawrence County Democratic Central Committee will meet on Thursday, July 12, at Grant's restaurant, located at 114 Chapell Drive in Monett. Dinner will be at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. The public is welcome.

A spaghetti dinner will be offered by Hobbs-Anderson American Legion Post #91 from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 19 at the Legion Home, 717 E. Broadway. Cost is $5 for adults.

A babysitters training camp will be held July 16 through July 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. by the American Red Cross. The fee is $150. Campers will be certified in babysitters training, infant and child CPR and first aid. They will be instructed on handling an emergency, making good decisions and how to interview for babysitting jobs. For more information, contact Faith Koppes at 866-206-0256.
