Missouri Weekly Hay Summary Week ending 07/13/12

   Several areas of the state have received some light to moderate rain 
over the past week but spotty is the key word to describe these rains. The 
state has become so deficient that a few spotty rains will not be enough to
make any significant change. Farmers continue to have a difficult time 
locating any hay to buy as those producers that may have some hay are 
holding very tightly to the limited supplies. Many producers have culled 
cattle herds fairly deeply especially in the south central and southeast 
parts of the state and feeding of hay to those cattle left on the farm 
is pretty common.  Supply of hay is very light, demand is good to very 
good and prices are firm. Missouri Department of Agriculture has a hay
