A Mt. Vernon man was injured in a single-vehicle crash that occurred at 3:55 p.m. on Friday on Highway F about three miles west of Stotts City.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred when the driver of a 1999 Chevrolet Metro, John R. Gibas, 49, of Mt. Vernon, failed to negotiate a curve, struck an embankment and overturned.
Gibas was taken to Mercy Hospital in Joplin with moderate injuries. It is not known if he was wearing a seat belt.
* A Republic man was injured in a two-vehicle crash that occurred at 6:10 a.m. on Monday on Highway 266 about one mile west of Springfield. The crash occurred when the driver of a 2011 Toyota pickup truck, Jeffrey D. Schatz, 36, of Marionville, was struck from behind by a 2000 Kia Sophia, driven by Jerry D. Smith, 55, of Republic. Smith was taken to Mercy Hospital in Springfield with minor injuries. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.
