The Monett visit by the Bluecoats drum and bugle corps for July 18 has been cancelled.
The Purdy Festival will be Saturday, July 21. Barbecued chicken will be sold from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Other activities will include free amusement rides, a petting zoo, indoor arts and crafts fair, an indoor farmer's market, an indoor livestock show, a BBQ cook-off, local bands, a fiddle contest, a veterans memorial dedication and reception, bathtub races and outdoor booths. With the recent dry weather, the Monett Rural Fire Association reminds all property owners outside the Monett city limits to have their blue signs with orange stickers clearly visible in case of a fire. A babysitters training camp will be held July 16 through July 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. by the American Red Cross. The fee is $150. Campers will be certified in babysitters training, infant and child CPR and first aid.
