With the recent dry weather, the Monett Rural Fire Association reminds all property owners outside the Monett city limits to have their blue signs with orange stickers clearly visible in case of a fire. Property owners who are not currently members can stop at The CPA Group, located at 217 Fourth St. in Monett, to pay dues.

The Lawrence County Democratic Central Committee will meet on Thursday, July 12, at Grant's restaurant, located at 114 Chapell Drive in Monett. Dinner will be at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. The public is welcome.

A public hearing on the proposal to merge the city of Verona in the tax-based Aurora Rural Fire District has been scheduled for 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 10, at Verona City Hall, 144 N. Third St. Comments will be limited to five minutes per person. Fore more information, call 417-498-6725.

Plans are underway for a reunion of students who graduated or would have graduated from Pierce City or McAuley High Schools from 1960 through 1971. The reunion will be held on Sept. 21 and 22 in Pierce City. For additional information, contact Jim Larkin at 476-2436.

July 11 is the final day to register to vote in the Aug. 7 primary election. Registration and recording changes of address can be done at the county clerk's office in the courthouses in Cassville and Mt. Vernon.Absentee voting is now underway at the clerks' offices.

A spaghetti dinner will be offered by Hobbs-Anderson American Legion Post #91 from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 19 at the Legion Home, 717 E. Broadway. Cost is $5 for adults.

The City of Monett's Industrial Development Authority will meet at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11, at the Monett Chamber of Commerce's community room at 200 E. Broadway.

A babysitters training camp will be held July 16 through July 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. by the American Red Cross. The fee is $150. Campers will be certified in babysitters training, infant and child CPR and first aid. They will be instructed on handling an emergency, making good decisions and how to interview for babysitting jobs. For more information, contact Faith Koppes at 866-206-0256.

The Pierce City Cemetery Association annual meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 12, at the Pierce City Branch Library, 101 N. Walnut, in the community room. For more information, call Sherry Reed at 476-5251.

A vendor has been coming to the Pierce City Farmers Market on Thursday and Friday afternoons with garden produce. Organizer Polly McCrillis said the Saturday vendors have not been coming, but the market is still open and available to any other vendors interested in participating.

Sign-ups for Monett Mighty Mite football and cheerleaders will be held July 12 through July 14 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Monett. Registration will begin at 6 p.m. the first two days and run 9 a.m. to noon on July 14. Sign-ups will also be taken on July 13 at football camp, at the field house, next to the practice field. Mighty Mite camp will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on July 23 through July 26. For more information, call Sean Kelley at 235-9700.
