Missouri Weekly Hay Summary Week ending 07/06/12

Hay available for purchase has basically become nonexistent in Missouri at this 
time. Even those bales considered priced too high a few weeks ago have now been 
gladly taken at the asking price. The widespread drought has made finding hay from 
outside the state a most difficult task as well. This week's crop progress report
shows 76 percent of our state's pastures in poor to very poor condition. 
The report also raises concerns of stock water supplies running short and a
decline in the condition of all crops in the state. Subsoil and topsoil 
moisture continue to decline and temperatures continue to soar. 
Supply is very light, demand is good to very good and prices are firm.
