Edith Evelyn Snell, age 88, of Carthage, Mo., formerly of Monett, passed away at 12:38 a.m. on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at her home following a two-month illness.
Edith was born on Feb. 15, 1924 in West Helena, Ark. She had lived in Carthage since 2000, and previously lived in Monett, Mo. for 25 years. Edith was a member of the Crossroads Baptist Church of Carthage. She had been active in various women's groups and volunteer organizations.
Edith married Gene Snell Sept. 8, 1975 in Eureka Springs, Ark. and he survives. Additional survivors include two sons, Douglas Snell and wife, Jeanie, of Tulsa, Okla., and Mark D. Snell and wife, Betty K., of Bellingham, Wash.; two daughters, Sonja Jean Snell, of Tulsa, Okla., and Staci Ann Davidson and husband, Rick, of Harrison, Ark.; and numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Services were held on June 30 at the Crossroads Baptist Church in Carthage with Pastor Robert Morgan officiating. Entombment was at the Ozark Memorial Park Mausoleum in Joplin. Memorial contributions are requested to the Crossroads Baptist Church in Carthage. Arrangements were entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary of Joplin, Mo.
