With the recent dry weather, the Monett Rural Fire Association reminds all property owners outside the Monett city limits to have their blue signs with orange stickers clearly visible in case of a fire. Property owners who are not currently members can stop at The CPA Group, located at 217 Fourth St. in Monett, to pay dues.
The City of Purdy has asked residents to refrain from using fireworks under the current hot and dry conditions and to postpone their celebration until more favorable conditions develop.
St. John's Lutheran Church at Stones Prairie has cancelled its plans for the annual fireworks, watermelon and ice cream gathering for Saturday, July 7.

A vendor has been coming to the Pierce City Farmers Market on Thursday and Friday afternoons with garden produce. Organizer Polly McCrillis said the Saturday vendors have not been coming, but the market is still open and available to any other vendors interested in participating.

The Mt. Vernon Chamber of Commerce is hosting a youth baseball and co-ed softball tournament on Saturday, July 21, at the Spirit of '76 ballpark.
