She was the daughter of Maynard Levi and Mary Alphia (Brown) Williams and was born in Purdy, Mo., having lived most of her life in Dallas.
Raised in McDowell, she graduated from Cassville High School and was an accomplished artist. She was a member of the Elk Ladies, the Red Hat Society and the Lakewood Book Club in Dallas. She and her husband operated their own business, Southwestern Construction Company.
She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 70 years, Byron West; daughter, Kara Hagan and husband, Gil of Mars Hill, North Carolina; granddaughter, Noele Tackett and husband, Gary of Mars Hill, North Carolina; grandson, Byron Hagan and wife, Lisa of Weaverville, North Carolina; great grandchildren, Haleigh Hagan, Savannah Mills, Nicholas Mills, Jake Mills, Brady Mills, and Devin Tackett; sister-in-law, Rethal Williams; nieces, Tracy Snodgrass, Pam Dorton, and Tamra Sunby; and nephew, Kelly Williams.
A private burial will be held June 30 in Purdy Cemetery. A Celebration of Life for family and close friends will be held on Sunday, July 1, 2012 at 5 p.m. at Little Flat Creek in McDowell. Arrangements are under the direction of Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett.
