The annual Carver Day celebration, honoring the life of educator, scientist and artist George Washington Carver, will be held on Saturday, July 14, at the George Washington Carver National Monument near Diamond.
Activities will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be exhibitors, live music performances, storytelling, educational programs, guided tours of the national park, activites for children and concessions.
The principal speaker will be John Ferrell, author of "Fruits of Creation: A Look at Global Sustainability as Seen Through the Eyes of George Washington Carver."
Among the entertainers will be Bobby Norfolk, Emmy winning storyteller, and Lem Sheppard, a blues, jazz and folk guitarists. The five-man vocal ensemble Sensational Wonders will also perform.
All activities are free. The park is located two miles west of Diamond on Highway V and a half-mile south on Carver Road.
