Spraying for mosquitoes will take place in Monett next week from 8 p.m. to midnight, weather permitting. Spraying will take place on June 26 north of Cleveland, on June 27 between Cleveland and Highway 60, and on June 28 south of Highway 60. For more information, call 235-3495.

Nashville recording artist Michael Deese will perform at a fundraiser for local food banks, St. Jude's Children's Hospital and the Make a Wish Foundation at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 23, at South Park in Pierce City. Singer/songwriter of the Year for 2009, Deese will play as part of a day-long event. For more information, call 417-476-2921.

The Jolly Mill Park Tal Wooten Memorial Music Event, featuring the Mark Chapman Band, will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, June 23. There will be a $5 cover charge per vehicle. Attendees are urged to bring lawn chairs and refreshments. Concessions will not be available. Fireworks will be presented after dark.

A Monett Lady Cubs basketball camp will be held June 25 through June 26 at the Monett High School gymnasium. Sessions for third through sixth grade will be from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sessions of seventh and eighth grade will be from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Cost is $20 and includes a camp T-shirt. The Purdy baseball and softball tournament for boys and girls 12 and under will be held June 25 through June 28 at the Purdy ballfield. There are four age divisions for boys and three for girls. The annual reunion of the Bennett-Fly families will be held on Sunday, June 24, at the Monett Senior Citizens Center, located at 405 Dairy St. A covered dish dinner will be served at noon. All relatives and friends are welcome.

The annual Trinity Lutheran Church picnic in Freistatt will be held on Friday, July 6, at 6 p.m. Live entertainment will be provided by the Hartland Band, Brass Quartet and Choir, plus the Republic Community Band. Food from hamburgers and hot dogs to homemade pies and ice cream will be served. Games and inflatables will be available for children. Rain date is Saturday, July 7.

Easyville Fundamental Methodist Church will hold Vacation Bible School from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. from June 25 through June 29 The theme will be "The Way to God," with Indiana Jess speaking nightly. For more information, call 417-847-8324.

The 636th Lawrence County Gospel Sing will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 24, at the Freewill Faith and Hope Baptist Church, located at 619 N. Elliott in Aurora. All singers and musicians are welcome. Lonnie Lawson will be the master of ceremonies.

A benefit for Jaye Jiles, who was injured in a motorcycle accident, will be held from 11:30 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 23, at the Marc (former Church on the Loop) in Mt. Vernon. A barbecue lunch will be served from 11:30 to 1 p.m. at $5 per plate.
