The VFW Post #4207 Ladies Auxiliary will host a luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 20. The menu will consist of meat loaf, mashed potatos with brown gravy, green beans, salad, desserts, coffee or tea. The cost is $6.
The annual Waldensian Presbyterian Church Ice Cream social will be held on Thursday, June 28. Serving will begin at 6 p.m. The menu will consist of homemade ice cream, pies, cakes, pimento cheese sandwiches, ham salad sandwiches, sloppy joes, potato chips, soft drinks, tea and coffee. The social will be held on the church grounds, located a mile and a half south of Monett on Waldensian Road.
A community workshop on a new program to help families cope with the effects of Alzheimer's disease and other dementias will be offered each Wednesday in August at 6 p.m. at the Home Instead Senior Care office, 705 Illinois Ave., Suite 16, in Joplin. For more information, call 417-625-1868.
The Jolly Mill Park Tal Wooten Memorial Music Event, featuring the Mark Chapman Band, will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, June 23. There will be a $5 cover charge per vehicle. Attendees are urged to bring lawn chairs and refreshments. Concessions will not be available. Fireworks will be presented after dark. The Jolly Mill Park is located 10 miles west of Monett, south of Highway 60, on Farm Road 1010. Jolly Mill is an alcohol-free facility.
Hobbs-Anderson American Legion Post #91 in Monett will hold a spaghetti dinner, with salad and beverage, from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 21 at the Legion Home, 717 E. Broadway. Cost is $5, or $3 for children under 12.

Sign-ups for Monett Mighty Mite football and cheerleaders will be held July 12 through July 14 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Monett. Registration will begin at 6 p.m. the first two days and run 9 a.m. to noon on July 14. Sign-ups will also be taken on July 13 at football camp, at the field house, next to the practice field.
