After his school years, Ervin enlisted in the United States Army. He served his country honorably, spending several years overseas during the end of World War II and Viet Nam. Ervin retired as a Staff Sgt. from the Army after 22 years of faithful service.
Ervin married Margaret Marie (Cox) Honeycutt on Aug. 18, 1960 in Miami, Okla. She preceded him in death in 1975. He was also preceded in death by five siblings; two grandsons; and one great-grandchild.
He is survived by three children, Judy, Marcia and David; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters.
Ervin's wishes were to be cremated. A military honor's memorial service, rendered by the American Legion Post #91 and the National Guard, will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, June 15, 2012 at the Buchanan Funeral Home Chapel.
