Elaine Fyr, age 91, of Monett, Mo., went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, June 10, 2012, while at her home following a lengthy illness. Elaine was born on Nov. 20, 1920 in Aurora, Mo., the daughter of the late Walter and Dyress (Young) Taylor.
Elaine graduated from Aurora High School and for many years, she had worked as a bookkeeper for Mid-America Dairymen Inc. in Monett. For the last eight years of her career, she worked in the Springfield plant. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was in the Lydia Circle. She was also a member of the Alexander McNair Chapter-NSDAR as well as the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
Elaine Taylor and Arthur Fyr were united in marriage on Jan. 12, 1952. They made their home in Monett and were blessed with over 60 years together.
Survivors include her husband, Arthur Fyr, of the home; and one brother, Walter Taylor, of Fairfield, Calif.; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a one brother, John Robert Taylor; and one sister, Virginia Nell Taylor.
Funeral services for were held on Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church in Monett with Reverend Paul Lanning officiating. Interment was in the Zion Cemetery, north of Aurora.
Memorial contributions are requested to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund, Loaves & Fishes or Hospice Compassus in care of the funeral home.
