A fundraising benefit for Troy Davis will be held from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. on Friday, June 15, at the Monett City Park Casino. Live music will begin at 7 p.m., provided by Tequila, Lime, No Salt as well as by Adam Freitas, Jamie Meeks, Cory West and Scott Gwinn. Homemade chili will be available. An auction will be held for sports tickets, gift certificates and other donated items. Donations will be accepted to help the Davis family with expenses while Troy battles cancer.

An American Red Cross blood drive will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. on Monday, June 18 at the First United Methodist Church in Monett, in the fellowship hall.

The Jolly Mill Park Tal Wooten Memorial Music Event, featuring the Mark Chapman Band, will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, June 23. There will be a $5 cover charge per vehicle. Attendees are urged to bring lawn chairs and refreshments. Concessions will not be available. Fireworks will be presented after dark. The Jolly Mill Park is located 10 miles west of Monett, south of Highway 60, on Farm Road 1010. Jolly Mill is an alcohol-free facility.

A crafter's group meeting will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 16 at Mocha Jo's, 404 E. Broadway in Monett. Participants are encouraged to bring their cross stitch, knitting, crochet or other projects. Those wishing to attend are urged to call 417-498-2202.

A benefit for Jaye Jiles, who was injured in a motorcycle accident, will be held from 11:30 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 23, at the Marc (former Church on the Loop) in Mt. Vernon. A barbecue lunch will be served from 11:30 to 1 p.m. at $5 per plate. A motorcycle show will be held with a $5 admission fee and a live auction at 2:30 p.m. The Route 66 Traveling Band will play at 1:30 p.m. For more information, call Mary Pearce at 417-606-0044.

A dinner to raise funds for fireworks for the Rocky Comfort community will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 16, at the Body of Crist Outreach Ministries Church, The meal is $5.50 for adults and $3.50 for children 12 and under. For more information, call 417-499-8004.

A free art exhibit will be held on Wednesday, July 4, at the park in Marionville, Highway 14 off E. Benton Street, fro 2 to 6 p.m. Local artists wishing to show their work can call Jackie Johnson at 417-463-7447.

Hobbs-Anderson American Legion Post #91 in Monett will hold a spaghetti dinner, with salad and beverage, from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 21 at the Legion Home, 717 E. Broadway. Cost is $5, or $3 for children under 12.

A food service training workshop will be offered by the Lawrence County Health Department at 9:30 p.m. on June 15, June 20 and June 22 at the department office, 105 W. North St. in Mt. Vernon. Cost is $10. Class size is limited. For more information, call 417-466-2201.

The Aurora Chamber of Commerce is planning for a "Light the Night" celebration on Saturday, June 16, beginning at 3 p.m. at Baldwin Park. Activities are planned for children, including games, a hot dog eating contests, music food and a fireworks show at 9:15 p.m. Vendor space is available.
