A candidate forum for three Republicans running for 29th District State Senator, David Sater, James Strahan and Jim Strafuss, will be held at 6:45 p.m. on Monday, June 4, at the Marc, 822 W. Mt. Vernon Blvd. (former Church on the Loop) in Mt. Vernon. The event is sponsored by Leaders Lead Locally, which meets monthly on the first Monday.

The Southwest Missouri Tea Party will host a candidate meet-and-greet for Mike Moon and Thomas Stilson, running for the Seventh District Congressional seat, at 7 p.m. on Monday, June 4, at the Shell Knob VFW.

A benefit event for Jaye Jiles, of Mt. Vernon, injured in a motorcycle accident in May, will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 23 at the Marc in Mt. Vernon. A barbecue meal will be served, live music played and a live auction held, in addition to games for children. For more information, call 417-606-0044.

A benefit for Keith Raley, who is battling cancer, will be held on Saturday, June 16, at the First Baptist Church in Pierce City. A meal will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. A pie auction held at 6:30 p.m. and an auction including art donated by Becky Golubski and an iPad.

The Arnhart Cemetery Association requests all flowers be removed by June 11 so normal mowing can resume.

The Monett High School Class of 1987 reunion will be held June 8 and June 9. Festivities start at 6:30 p.m. on June 8 at The Bayou and 11 a.m. on June 9 at Monett South Park.

The Junior Golf League at Monett's Windmill Ridge course will begin its season on Thursday, June 7 at 9 a.m. Participants should arrive by 8:30 a.m. to sign-in, plus pay $10 to join and $5 per outing. Each player should have a personal bag and clubs. League play continues until Aug. 2. Play will be divided by age.

A CPR/First Aid course will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 9 at the Monett Justice Center, 1901 E. Cleveland. The course is approved by the American Heart Association and is recommended for teens babysitting. Participation is limited to 20 people. To reserve a seat, call 417-489-4554 or 417-393-0713.

The Dry Valley Cemetery Association will meet at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 10 at the Pierce City Library, 101 N. Walnut, in the conference room off Walnut Street.

Verona Sacred Heart Summerfest will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. on June 9 at the corner of Second Street and Adams.

Community Blood Centers of the Ozarks will hold a blood drive from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6, at Cox Monett Hospital, 801 N. Lincoln. A Code Yellow alert has been issued for O negative blood. A drive is also planned for 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 7 at 108 S. Hickory in Mt. Vernon.

The Pierce City Fishing Derby will be held from 8 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 9, at the Pierce City South Park Lake for children ages 15 and under. Prizes will be awarded. The event is sponsored by the Pierce City Rural Fire Department.
