Monett has a new Mexican restaurant in the former location of the Black Kettle. Los Arcos, or "The Arches" in English, opened on May 14 with a menu concentrating on fine foods from south of the border and local favorites.

Owner Isaias Morales has 14 years of experience with Acambaro's. The Monett Acambaro's is run by a member of his family. Several other family members run restaurants in the area.

Morales lives in Rogers, Ark., and commutes daily. He said having his own restaurant has always been a personal dream. He hopes to move to Monett when Los Arcos becomes well established as a dining fixture.

The name "Los Arcos" reflects Mexican heritage, as does several wall murals added to the interior decor.

Located at East Broadway and First Street, Los Arcos has daily specials from 6 to 11 a.m. and a buffet on the weekends. American breakfast is avaliable daily. The restaurant opens at 6 a.m. daily. Meals are available until 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and until 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and Sunday.
