June marks the historic wrapping up of strawberry picking season and Monett's Strawberry Festival this weekend. Calendar Girl Elise Nichole Meyer took on closer look at strawberry picking equipment used by generations of Monettans and other artifacts of Monett's days as the strawberry capital at the Monett Museum.

The daughter of Gary and Nancy Meyer, Elise had a busy senior year at Monett High School. A member of the top 10 percent of her class, Elise is a member of the National Honor Society, M Club, the Link Crew, an officer in the Youth Empowerment Program and a two-year member of the Student Council. She played volleyball for four years, swam on the WaterThrashers swim team for 11 years, served for four years as wrestling manager and one year as baseball manager. She completed the A+ program, volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters and helped with the Special Olympics for four years.

Elise's hobbies include photography, scrapbooking, shopping and hanging out with friends. She worked at Bootleggers, as a lifeguard and as a swim team coach. Elise has two brothers, Kyle and Ian, and the family dog, Cheddar.

Next fall, Elise plans to attend the University of Arkansas and major in elementary special education.
