Local delegates have been selected for Girls State, the annual model government program sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary in Missouri.
Girls State simulates running a real country with 760 citizens from seven counties and 21 cities. Delegates select leaders for city, county and state bodies, culminating in the election of a state governor.
Speakers from business and government provide insight into government operations and classes are offered.
State chairmen for the Hobbs-Anderson American Legion Auxiliary are Ann Kennedy and Nancy Shipman. Girls State will be held June 24 through June 30 at Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg.
