Summer reading program set to get underway in June

The Barry-Lawrence Regional Library Branches are offering annual summer reading clubs and programs beginning in June.

The program will be available to all ages, from tots to adults. Incentives will be offered to all participants.

"Dream Big -- Read!" is the program for children ages 0-3 and children ages 3-12.

"Own the Night" is the summer program for teens ages 13-18.

"Between the Covers" is the program for adults ages 18 years and up.

To kick-off the summer reading program, master magician D.J. Edwards will be performing at the Aurora, Cassville, Marionville, Miller, Monett, Mt. Vernon, Pierce City, Purdy and Shell Knob branch locations on June 5-7.

Heno Head will present "Big Dreams + Big Science = Big Fun" at the Eagle Rock location at 2 p.m. on June 7.

The Monett Branch will offer "Dream Big -- Read!" beginning at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6. Sessions will take place at 3:30 each Wednesday until July 25.

The Pierce City Branch will hold "Dream Big -- Read!" sessions starting at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6. Subsequent programs will be held at 10:30 a.m. each Wednesday.

The Pierce City teen summer reading program, "Own the Night," will also take place at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesdays beginning June 6.

"Between the Covers," the Pierce City Library adult summer reading program, will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesdays, beginning June 5.

The Mt. Vernon summer reading program for children gets underway at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5. There will be no program on Tuesday, July 3.

Miller's children's program starts at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5. Times alternate for the Tuesday programs, so participants should check with the library for more information.

The Marionville Branch will offer its children's program at alternating times starting at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 5. Participants should check with the library for a schedule.

The Aurora Library will hold its children's program starting at 10 a.m. each Wednesday, beginning on June 6.

The Purdy Library will hold summer sessions at 3:30 p.m. each Thursday, beginning on June 7.

The Cassville Library will hold pre-school sessions at 10:30 a.m. each Thursday, starting on June 14.

The Cassville children's program is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Thursdays, beginning on June 14. All summer reading participants will also meet at 1:30 p.m. on June 7; 1:30 p.m. on July 5; and 7 to 9 p.m. on July 19 for special events.

Shell Knob Library will offer summer reading sessions alternate times beginning at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 7. Participants should check with the library for a schedule.

Eagle Rock summer reading programs will begin at 2 p.m. on Thursdays starting on June 7.
