William was born on July 16, 1937 in Newton County, Mo., the son of Jack and Mary (Nichols) Blinzler. He was a lifetime area resident and served his country in the National Guard for over six years as a tank operator. He worked for Thermal Engineering, formerly South Western Engineering, in Joplin. Two of his greatest passions in life was farming and being with his family, especially his grandchildren. William was a member of the Van Buren Baptist Church.
On April 25, 1988, in Miami, Okla., William married Dorothy Bowman. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, of the home; one son, William A. Blinzler and wife, Debbie, of Wentworth; two daughters, Debbie Blinzler, of Gig Harbor, Wash. and Cherie Carter and husband, Wayne, of Everton, Mo.; one step-son, Darrell Lamp and wife, Debbie, of Oronogo, Mo.; three sisters, Mary Jane Sageser and husband, Jack, of Carthage, Mo., Linda Henry and husband, Terry, of Springfield, Mo. and Barbara Armstrong, of Joplin; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Mary Blinzler; and one brother, Jackie Blinzler.
Funeral services for Mr. Blinzler will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at the Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home in Sarcoxie, Mo. Reverend Aaron Weibel and Reverend Larry Courtney will officiate. Interment will follow in the Sarcoxie Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice Compassus. Arrangements have been entrusted to Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home, Sarcoxie, Mo.
