Today, The Monett Times is announcing a change in delivery. Beginning with the Friday edition, the local newspaper will change from an evening newspaper to a morning newspaper. At the same time, The Monett Times will be phasing out its carrier delivery.
"This change was necessitated by rising gas prices and other operational factors," said Mike Schlichtman, general manager of The Monett Times. "For many of you, the newspaper will arrive earlier in the day with your mail, which we hope is an added convenience."
Those readers who used to have their newspapers delivered by carrier will now receive the newspaper by mail.
"This is a positive story, because the paper will be delivered as same-day mail," said Schlichtman. "The morning paper will land in mailboxes that same day."
The print edition will be available in the newsstands by noon on each day of publication.
The Monett Times will honor existing expiration dates for those currently receiving their newspaper by carrier.
"We believe this change is a positive one that will result in more timely news product," said Schlichtman.]
