The Barry County Youth Camp, which will be held May 29 through June 1 at Camp Smokey in Roaring River State Park, will offer bus services in Cassville, Monett and Purdy.
The Monett bus stop will be at the Monett First Baptist Church parking lot, located at 412 Fourth St. Campers should assemble at the stop by 8:30 a.m. on May 29. The bus will leave at 8:45 a.m. Campers will return to Monett by 11:15 a.m. on June 1.
Camp participants from the Purdy area should meet at the Ramey supermarket parking lot at 9 a.m. on May 29. The bus will leave at 9:10 a.m. Campers will return by 11 a.m. on June 1.
A bus will pick up camp participants at the Cassville United Methodist Church parking lot, which is located at Sixth and Gravel, at 9:30 a.m. on May 29. Campers should be at the stop by 9:15 a.m. The bus will return between 10:30 and 10:45 a.m. on June 1.
Parents should be at the bus stop to pick up their children on June 1. An adult will not be present to wait with children who are dropped off at stops.
Children who live in the Eagle Rock, Shell Knob and Golden areas should report directly to Camp Smokey in Roaring River State Park by 10 a.m. on May 29.
In addition to many planned activities, BACA (Bikers Against Child Abuse) will be presenting a program on Tuesday night.
The camp theme for the 47th annual event is "Racing to Barry County Youth Camp." The climax of the camp will be carnival night with booths offering games and prizes, and cotton candy, snow cones and popcorn.
Co-directors this year are Sarah Davis and Sarah Pfitzner. Craft director is Kami Willis. Cooks are Greg Davis, Melvin Casper and Bob Mareth. Pfitzner will also serve as the camp nurse.
Each year the camp is in need of towels, wash cloths, sheets, blankets and clothing for the campers, as well as the time of anyone who can volunteer their assistance before, during and after the camp. Those wishing to make donations or volunteer can call 235-3929.
