Flags are to be flown at half-staff on Tuesday, May 15, for Police Officers Memorial Day, reports Hobbs-Anderson American Legion Post #91 in Monett.

The Monett High School Drama Department will present four short plays at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15, in the high school commons.

The Purdy Special Road District commissioners will meet at 5:30 p.m. today, May 14, at the district barn on Farm Road 1085.

VFW Post #4207 Ladies Auxiliary will host a luncheon on Wednesday, May 16, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The meal will include turkey with dressing, mashed potatoes with gravy, seasoned carrots, salads, dessert and beverage. Cost is $6. The Post is located west of Monett on Highway 60.

The Monett High School honors assembly will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, May 14, in the high school commons.

A retirement reception of Purdy R-2 School District Superintendent Jerry Lingo will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 16 at the school cafeteria. The public is welcome.

A retirement reception for Purdy R-2 elementary school music teacher Sharon Vaughn will be held at 3:20 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15 in the Purdy school cafeteria. The public is welcome.

The Liberty Cemetery Association will hold its annual meeting at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 20 at the Liberty United Methodist Church fellowship hall.

The First Baptist Church in Purdy, located at Third and Washington, will hold Vacation Bible School using the theme "Amazing Wonders." The event will take place on Saturday, May 19, at the church. Activities begin at 10 a.m. and will close with a program at 4:45 p.m., followed by a barbecue dinner for friends and family. For more information, call 417-442-7435.

A fish fry fundraiser will be held at the Pierce City Senior Center, 104 Locust, at noon on Friday, May 18. Vegetables, salad and dessert are included. Cost is $3.50 for adults over 55, $4.50 for others. Carry-outs available if ordered before 11:30 a.m. For information, call 476-5006.

A church-wide garage sale will be held by the Reavisville First Baptist Church on Friday and Saturday, May 18 and 19, beginning at 7 a.m. each day. Proceeds will go to the Lawrence County Relay for Life. The church is located on Highway TT, south of Aurora. For more information, call 235-9803.

The second annual Monett Strawberry Festival will be held June 1 and June 2 on Broadway in downtown Monett. Applications are being accepted for quality crafts, produce growers, local manufacturers and non-profit information booths.
