The annual Kids Fishing Derby, sponsored by the Monett Sportsmen's League, will be held from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 12, at Monett City Park Lake. Children 15 and under can participate. Bait will be provided and cash prizes. Lunch will be served after the derby.

Challenged Champions Field Day, a special field day event for challenged students in Barry and Lawrence counties, will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 12 at the Pierce City High School football field. Activities will be modified based on the participant's abilities. If an aide is required, they will have to be provided by the participant's family. Each participant will receive a T-shirt, medal and a ribbon.
