Two Monettans hurt in crash

Two Monett women were hurt in a one-car crash on Saturday one mile south of Sarcoxie.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Paige Kimbrough, 19, was driving a 1998 Subaru Impreza north on Highway 37 when she failed to negotiate a curve. The car ran off the left side of the roadway and struck several trees.

Kimbrough received serious injuries and was taken to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin. Her passenger, Troy Liggett, 17, of Carthage, also received serious injuries. Passengers Mikaila Kimbrough, 16, of Monett, and Patience Vinzant, 15, of Sarcoxie, both received minor injuries and were also taken to Freeman hospital. All the occupants were wearing safety belts except for Vinzant.

Other crashes

* A Highway Patrol trooper from Mt. Vernon was hurt in a two-vehicle crash one mile south of Greenfield at 8:20 a.m. on Sunday. Trooper Steven Jones, 40, was driving north on Highway 39, one mile south of Greenfield, when his 2008 Ford Crown Victoria crossed the center line and collided with a 1999 Ford F150 pickup driven by Blake Schnelle, 23, of Golden City. Jones received moderate injuries and was taken to Mercy Hospital in Springfield for treatment. Schnelle received minor injuries and sought treatment privately. Both were wearing safety belts. Damage to Jones' patrol car was estimated at $7,000.

* Three Verona children were hurt in a single vehicle crash at 12:29 a.m. on Saturday. Julio Pacheco, 28, of Verona, was driving east in a 2002 Ford Explorer when he drove off the right side of the road and over-corrected. The pickup overturned. Injured were Izabella Diaz, 8, Hailee Prier, 8, and Emilio Silveria, 5, all of Verona, none of whom were wearing safety belts. The children received moderate injuries and were taken to Cox Hospital in Springfield for treatment.

* A Cassville man received moderate injuries in a single vehicle crash two miles east of Cassville at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday. Randy Allen, 30, was driving east in a 1986 Autocar tractor trailer cab when the vehicle had a blowout on the left front tire, causing it to leave the roadway and overturn. Allen, who was not wearing a safety belt, received moderate injuries and was taken by air ambulance to Cox Hospital South in Springfield for treatment.

* Two Phoenix, Ariz., men were hurt in a single vehicle crash three miles west of Mt. Vernon at 4:05 p.m. on Saturday. Yakubov Abdurashid, 42, was diving west on Interstate 44 in a 2007 Volvo tractor trailer when he failed to negotiate a curve and drove off the roadway. The vehicle struck a guard rail and overturned in the median. Abdurashid and his passenger, Ulugbek Kuchkarov, 36, both received moderate injuries and were taken to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin for treatment. Abdurashid was wearing a safety belt and Kuchkarov was not.
