Area residents have the opportunity to take part in a Life Line Screening offer for stroke or osteoporosis, in an effort to reduce their risk of having a stroke or bone fracture. The event will be held on Wednesday, May 23 at First United Methodist Church, located at 1600 N. Central in Monett.
Screenings identify potential cardiovascular conditions such as blocked arteries, irregular heart rhythm, abdominal aortic aneurysms and hardening of the arteries in the legs, which is a strong predictor of heart disease. A bone density screening is also offered to assess the risk of osteoporosis for both men and women.
Stroke is the third leading cause of death and a leading cause of permanent disability. As many as 80 percent of stroke victims had no apparent warning signs prior to their stroke.
Packages start at $159 and pre-registration is required.
