PCHS honor graduates named

Honor graduates for the Class of 2012 at Pierce City High School have been announced by Principal Steve Garner.

Valedictorian will be Drew Boursheski, the son of Erin and Kent Boursheski. Salutatorian will be Mattie Parrigon, daughter of Alicia and Patrick Parrigon.

Graduation will be on Sunday, May 13. Baccalaureate will be at 4 p.m. and commencement exercises will be at 6 p.m., both in the high school gymnasium.

Commencement speakers will be the valedictorian and the salutatorian. Students voted to have Matt Street as the faculty speaker. Street is the boys basketball varsity coach and the assistant baseball coach. He is the district's in-school suspension instructor.

Other members of the top 10 of the class are: Jade Winsea, Elizabeth Younker, Katelyn Thompson, Ian Brottlund, Sara Stearns, Michael Adams, Brittany Young and Makina Kelley.

There are 54 graduates in the class. A special memorial will be offered for classmate Jennifer Garner, who died in January.

The ceremony includes a slide show of the students and the distribution of roses by graduates to family and special members in the audience.

Purdy will graduate at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 12; Monett will graduate at 8 p.m. on Friday, May 18; and Verona will graduate at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 20.
