A program on gang awareness will be presented by Dr. Luis C--rdoba at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 6, at the Monett Middle School Auditorium. A session in Spanish will be held at 5:30 p.m. the public is welcome to attend.

The Monett High School Band will give its spring concert at 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 6, at the First United Methodist Church, 1600 N. Central in Monett.

The Monett High School choirs will present their spring concert at 7 p.m. on Monday, May 7, in the high school gym.

The Barry County Courthouse and Judicial Center will be closed on Tuesday, May 8, in observance of President Harry Truman's birthday.

The Monett Farmers Market will open on May 19.

The Monett Purdy Affiliate of Habitat for Humanity will hold a ground breaking ceremony for the sixth house at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 5. The event will be held at the 100 block of E. Nellie in Monett. The public is invited and refreshments will be served.

The monthly dance at the Monett Senior Citizens Center will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, May 7. The Fun Timers Band will play. Participants are encouraged to bring potluck or finger foods. Admission is $3. The dance will be at 405 Dairy St. in Monett.

The Zion Cemetery Association will hold its annual decoration and business meeting on Sunday, May 6. Decoration of the graves, at Highway 39 at Honey Creek, will be done at 1:30 p.m., followed by a business meeting at 2 p.m. All families with relatives buried at the cemetery are urged to attend.

The Local Vietnam Veterans Chapter #1023 will meet at 4 p.m. May 6 at Grant's restaurant on Chapell Drive, south of Highway 60. For more information, call Paul at 471-271-3835.

Challenged Champions Field Day, a special field day event for challenged students in Barry and Lawrence counties, will be held beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 12 at the Pierce City High School football field. Activities will be modified based on the participant's abilities. Each participant will received a T-shirt, medal and ribbon.

Neosho's Car and Bike Cruise Night will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday in the downtown square.

Lou Faucett will offer a class in pencil drawing with an emphasis on shading and perspective at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 10, at the Mt. Vernon Branch of the Barry-Lawrence Regional Library, 206 W. Water St. To register, call 417-466-2921.

The Ducks Unlimited Spring Fling will be held on May 11 at the Cassville American Legion Hall, Highway 112 South, beginning at 6 p.m. For tickets, call Julie Snodgrass at 417-489-1078.
