The Dorcas Ladies Aid met on April 5 at Trinity Lutheran School in Freistatt. The meeting was called to order by Judy Lehde, president. She welcomed 15 members and one guest.
Judy Krueger gave the opening prayer followed by the business meeting and reading of correspondence.
The family of Irma Flowers sent a thank-you card for serving the luncheon following her funeral. Lutheran Family Services in Springfield sent a thank-you card for the donation of baby items. Following announcements, committee reports were presented.
Those serving the memorial lunch following the funeral of Irma Flowers were Lena Bremer, chairperson, Bonnie and Hershel Worm, Wayne Fritz, Kathy Schoen, Ethel Helmkamp, Lois Gaddy, Evelyn Bracht, Jeanne Stoltz, Janice Koenemann and Sharon Curtit. They served 80 people, and Bremer thanked everyone who brought food and helped.
Bremer thanked everyone who helped on the Mission Committee workday held on March 19. Five large quilts and three baby quilts were finished. One quilt was donated to the school carnival. Attending the work day were Nadine Obermann, Dorothy Osterloh, Evelyn Bracht, Ruth Nelson, Judy Krueger, Judy Lehde, Erna May Doss, Mabel Moennig, Lena Bremer, Erna Schoen and Marge Harris.
It was announced that the Christian growth committee will sponsor the Mother's Day church radio broadcast.
Helmkamp reported two baptisms were held on March 4. She gave cards and bookmarks to the confirmands. The recipients were Grant Bushman, Kourtney Easter, Alexis Ehrhardt, Trentin Rickman and Christopher Smith.
The birthday song was sung for Ethel Helmkamp, Marge Harris, Mable Moennig, Jeanne Holle Stoltz and Nora Lamp.
Bremer and Kleiboeker announced that they still had several members to visit. Helmkamp and Doss visited Eleanor Smidt at Lawrence County Manor.
A sympathy card was signed for Bill Flowers, and an Easter card was signed for Anne Telshow.
Ballots were handed out for the 2012-2014 Mission projects. The Ingathering for the LWML convention, to be held in St. Charles in June, was discussed. Suggestions were given for individual donations of first aid kits for Christian Friends of New Americas, Lydia House, gift cards to Walmart, Target, Lowe's or Home Depot or Bilingual Bibles for International Student Ministry.
The zone board approved the Fall Rally ingathering of non-perishable grocery items and paper products for Crosslines.
The spring rally will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 6 in Sarcoxie at the Gene Taylor Center.
The program was presented by Krueger entitled "All Eyes on the Cross, a Lenten devotion based on the Seven Last Words of Christ from the Cross." Prayers and Bible verses were read by Lehde, and songs were sung accompanied by Obermann, pianist.
Lehde thanked the hostesses, Ruth Nelson and Obermann, and the meeting was adjourned.
