Memorial Day will be on Monday, May 28 and the Pierce City Branch Library would like to show appreciation and respect for local veterans, both currently serving and those who have previously served. A bulletin board has been planned for the month of May to post photographs of veterans.
The Summer Reading Club programs will begin the first week in June and run through the end of July, skipping the week of July 4. There will be programs announced for all ages.
New DVDs available at the library include: Girl Fight; War Horse; Animals United: Adventures in Africa; and The Adventures of TinTin.
New youth titles include: "A Good Night Walk" by Elisha Cooper and "The Princess of Pink Slumber Party" by Victoria Kann.
New adult fiction titles include: "The Half-Stitched Amish Quilting Club" by Wanda Brunstetter; "Clare de Lune" by Jetta Carleton; "Florida Weddings: Romance Blossoms in Three Novels set in the Sunshine State" by Janice Hanna; "Promised to Another" by Laura Hilton; "The Fiddler" by Beverly Lewis; "There and Now" by Linda Lael Miller; and "Come Home" by Lisa Scottoline.
Western title includes: "Rusty Samin: a Western Story" by Max Brand, in large print. One mystery title, which is "Aunt Dimity and the Village Witch" by Nancy Atherton.
New teen titles include:
"Lenobia's Vow" by P.C. Cast and "Tempest" by Julie Cross.
A book club for adults and teens is being discussed. Those interested in participating, contact the Pierce City Branch Library. Those interested in starting a new Friends of the Library Group, can contact Terry or Georgia at the library.
Business hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays.
