|LouElla Rose Helmkamp, age 83, of Monett, Mo., passed from this life at 11:35 p.m. on Monday, April 30, 2012 at Cox South Hospital in Springfield. LouElla was born on May 16, 1928 in Freistatt, Mo., the daughter of the late Henry Tiesel and Gertrude Amanda (Wilkin) Tiesel.||She graduated from Verona High School with the class of 1945. LouElla had a great passion for community involvement. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church where she was active in the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and Braille Workers. She was also on the hospital auxiliary board for 15 years as well as the Kings Prairie Community Association and had volunteered with Loaves and Fishes and Crosslines. LouElla had worked for Cecil Mayer State Farm Insurance Agency in Monett for over 26 years before retiring in 1991.|
On Nov. 14, 1945 in Freistatt, Mo., LouElla Tiesel and Kenneth E. Helmkamp were united in marriage. To this union, three children were born. LouElla was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; one grandson, Mason Baker; and one sister, Lucille Quade.
She is survived by two sons, Perry W. Helmkamp and wife, Carrie, of Springdale, Ark., and Samuel K. Helmkamp and wife, Jayne, of Diamond, Mo.; one daughter, Linda Hammonds and husband, Dave, of Crane, Mo.; one brother, Lavern H. Tiesel, of Mt. Vernon, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Helmkamp will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 4, 2012 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Monett with Reverend Richard Cody officiating. Interment will be in the McCormick-St. John's Cemetery.
|Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday evening at the church. Memorial contributions can be made to the Braille Workers in care of the funeral home.||Arrangements are under the personal care of Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett.|
