A prayer breakfast, in observance of National Day of Prayer, will be held from 7 to 8 a.m. on Thursday, May 3 at the Monett South Park Casino.

Acoustic guitarist Chris Sharpe will play from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at Mocha Jo's, 404 E. Broadway in Monett.

The Zion Cemetery Association will hold its annual decoration and business meeting on Sunday, May 6. The cemetery is located on Highway 39 at Honey Creek. Decorations of graves will take place at 1:30 p.m., followed by a business meeting at 2 p.m. All families with relatives buried at the cemetery are urged to attend.

The Monett Purdy Affiliate of Habitat for Humanity will hold a ground breaking ceremony for the sixth house at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 5. The event will be held at the 100 block of E. Nellie in Monett. The public is invited and refreshments will be served.

Silver Teens will meet at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 3, at the Monett Senior Citizens Center, 405 Dairy St., to car pool for supper at the Red Barn Restaurant in Mt. Vernon. For information, call Pennie at 235-9978.

The Youth Empowerment Program (YEP) at Monett High School will host an inaugural Wiffleball Tournament fundraiser at 6:30 p.m. in the high school gym. Different classes at MHS will compete, with the winning team taking on the faculty. Admission will be $3 for adults and $2 for students.

The Local Vietnam Veterans Chapter #1023 will meet at 4 p.m. May 6 at Grant's restaurant on Chapell Drive, south of Highway 60. For more information, call Paul at 471-271-3835.

The Monett Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony at 4 p.m. on May 3 at Starla K Fashions, 401B, Plaza Drive. The public is welcome.
