Monett PD to join in torch run

Monday, April 30, 2012

Members of the Monett Police Department will participate in the 30th annual Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run, to be held on Tuesday, May 22.

Monett School Resource Officer Jay Jastal said that he and other members of the department will start the run at 9 a.m. at Jimmy's Pre-Owned Autos on Highway 37, south of Monett.

Participants will run Highway 37 turning east on Highway 60 to Kyler Street. Officers will continue north on Kyler and 13th Streets to Cleveland, turning east and finishing the run at the police department.

Some officers will only run a portion of the way, while others plan to run the whole six miles," Jastal said. "We will also be selling T-shirts to support Special Olympics."

Those wishing to purchase a T-shirt or make a donation to the Special Olympics organization may contact Jastal by calling 235-4241.
