A prayer breakfast, in observance of National Day of Prayer, will be held from 7 to 8 a.m. on Thursday, May 3 at the Monett South Park Casino. Gary Shaw, Joplin City Council member, will be the speaker. A complimentary breakfast will be served by Monett Kiwanis Club. The event is sponsored by the Monett Chamber of Commerce and the Monett Ministerial Association. The Pierce City High School Senior Citizen prom will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. on Sunday, April 29 at the school cafeteria. Fred Lacy and the Matadors will provide the entertainment. The public is invited to attend. Refreshments will be provided by the high school National Honor Society.
The monthly dance at the Monett Senior Citizens Center will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, May 7. The Fun Timers Band will play. Participants are encouraged to bring potluck or finger foods. Admission is $3. The dance will be at 405 Dairy St. in Monett.
The Kings Prairie Community Association will meet at 6:30 p.m. on May 3 at the old Kings Prairie school house, on Farm Road 2015, west of the New Liberty Methodist Church off Highway Z. The Monett Purdy Affiliate of Habitat for Humanity will hold a ground breaking ceremony for the sixth house at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 5. The event will be held at the 100 block of E. Nellie in Monett. The public is invited and refreshments will be served.
The Monett VFW Post #4207 Ladies Auxiliary will host a luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2 at the Post located west of Monett on Highway 60. The menu will include spaghetti with meat sauce, corn, garlic bread, salad, dessert, tea or coffee. The cost is $6.
The annual Pierce City Community Banquet will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 5 at the Pierce City Senior Citizens Center, located at 104 N. Locust. Funds raised will be used for the Pierce City Back Pack Program at school The winner of the Dacy Helping Hands Award will be announced at the banquet.
