Area crashes leave injuries

A Miller man was injured in a single-vehicle crash that took place at 1:10 a.m. today on Highway 97 about five miles west of Miller.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred when the driver of a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt, Joseph F. Lopez, 21, of Miller, ran off the right side of the road and struck a tree.

Lopez was taken to Cox Hospital South in Springfield with moderate injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt.

Other crashes

* An Eagle Rock man was involved in a two-vehicle crash that occurred at 8:45 p.m. on Thursday on Highway 86 in Eagle Rock. The crash occurred when the driver of a 2008 GMC Yukon, Charles K. Phillips, 22, of St. Louis, turned into the path of a 2007 Harley-Davidson, driven by Mark Pierson, 52, of Eagle Rock. No injury information was available for this wreck as of press time today. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.

I'm pretty sure the rider of the Harley was not wearing a seat belt.
