Two candidates for the Monett R-1 Board of Education who ran without opposition were sworn into office during the board's reorganizational meeting. Taking the oath of office from board secretary Patty Leach were A.J. Bahl, left, joining the board for the first time, and J.D. Roberts, right, returning for his third term.

Fred Slagle, a Pierce City R-6 Board of Education member, was recently honored for his nine years of service to the Pierce City School District and its patrons. Superintendent Dr. Aaron Cornman presented the plaque on behalf of the board at a meeting held Thursday night. Pictured above, from left, are: Fred Slagle and Dr. Aaron Cornman.
