Pierce City track wins at Lamar

The Pierce City Eagles girls' track team finished first and the boys' team took second at the 14-team Lamar Rotary Relays on Friday.

"I was really proud of my kids," said Pierce City track coach Brad Hocker. "We had runners away at the State FFA Convention, and we still had a strong outing."

Results for the Pierce City girls are as follows.

First place

* 200-meter: Krishna Merriman, 27.36.

* Discus: Sara Stearns, 109'8".

* Shot: Stearns, 32'1".

Second place

* 4x800 relay: Brooke Ridenour, Allie Creed, Amanda Zabala and Mattie Parrigon, 11:01.

* 100-meter: Emily Ashley, 13:09.

* 400-meter: Merriman, 1:00.

* Discus: Jenn Velten, 92'1".

Third place

* 4x200 relay: Ashley, Makina Kelley, Ridenour and Merriman, 1:53.

* 4x100 relay: Ashley, Kelley, Ridenour and Breanna Zebert, :54.

* 800-meter: Parrigon, 2:33.

* 4x400 relay: Zebert, Parrigon, Ashley and Merriman, 4:25.

* Triple jump: Creed, 29'1".

Results for the Pierce City boys are as follows.

First place

* 100-meter: Cedric O'Hara, 11.25.

* 200-meter: O'Hara, 23.26.

Second place

* 4x200 relay: Wayne Joe Sooter, Aaron Zabala, Zack Hyde and O'Hara, 1:33.

* 4x400 relay: Marcus Brown, Caleb Laswell, Hyde and Sooter, 3:41.67.

* Triple jump: Hyde, 41'3".

Third place

* 4x100 relay: Zabala, Hyde, Sooter and O'Hara, 45.58.

* Shot: Logan Deems, 40'9".

Fourth place

* 400-meter: Brown, 56.13.

* High jump: Ryan Turner, 5'8".

The track team will be in action on Tuesday at the Missouri State Relays in Springfield.
