"I think this title mattered a little more to the kids than last year's title," said Monett head golf coach Derrek Uhl. "This year, the tournament was on our home course. We are playing our best rounds at the right time of the season, and I am proud of my players."
The Cubs took first place, recording a 322. Mt. Vernon finished second and shot 325 as a team, and Carl Junction was third, recording a 326.
Results for the Cubs' golfers were as follows: Travis Thompson, 81; Garrett Craig, 85; Tyler Webb, 86; and Bryan Beckwith, 95.
"Tyler (Webb) shot his best round of the season," said Uhl. "Wil Snider, Beckwith and Webb have battled all season long for a spot on the varsity team, and it has made all three better golfers."
Monett travels to Aurora next Tuesday for the district tournament. Flights tee off at 9 a.m.
