The Monett Cubs golf team captured its second consecutive Big 8 Conference golf title on Thursday at Monett's par-71 Windmill Ridge golf course.

"I think this title mattered a little more to the kids than last year's title," said Monett head golf coach Derrek Uhl. "This year, the tournament was on our home course. We are playing our best rounds at the right time of the season, and I am proud of my players."

The Cubs took first place, recording a 322. Mt. Vernon finished second and shot 325 as a team, and Carl Junction was third, recording a 326.
