A once-in-a-lifetime trip. Monett Times sports editor Jared Lankford and three friends left Wednesday morning on a baseball barnstorming excursion. Lankford and his group plan to watch five professional and one minor league baseball games in three days. On Wednesday, Lankford saw the St. Louis Cardinals earn a 11-1 victory over the Cincinnati Reds. On Thursday, the group attended the Chicago White Sox and Baltimore Orioles game then watched the Kansas City Royals Class A affiliate Kane County Cougars, who are based in the Chicago Ill., suburb of Geneva, play the Fort Wayne Tin Caps, who are the Class A feeder team for the of the San Diego Padres. Today, Lankford plans to take in a game at Wrigley Field as the Chicago Cubs play the Reds. Then, he will travel to Milwaukee Wis., to watch the Brewers and Colorado Rockies square off Friday night. On Saturday, Lankford will watch the Cubs and the Reds again before returning home.
