Christian bands A Hope for Redemption, Saving Silence, Simon Phoenixx and An Act of Valor will play a free show at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 21 at the Mt. Vernon Arts and Recreation Center (The Marc), located at 822 W. Mt. Vernon Blvd.

Wayne Ridenour, of Monett, offered chances to win a handcrafted walnut bowl that he made in an effort to raise funds for Lynne Carnes, of Monett, who is suffering from brain cancer. Ridenour raised $1,100 to go towards Carnes' expenses. The winner of the drawing was Bessie Nolan.

Shoe Roads Productions, a division of Laurie's Shoes, will be at Cox Monett Hospital from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1 in the hospital's main lobby. A wide variety of shoes will be offered at the sale, including Klogs, Dansko, Alegria, Sanita and Birkenstock. All proceeds will benefit the auxiliary's healthcare scholarship fund. The Pierce City Parents as Teachers will host a "Read from the Start" program at 6:30 pm. on Monday, April, 23 and on Monday, April 30 in the Central Elementary cafeteria. Barry County Youth Camp is currently accepting donations for shoes, swim suits, shorts and tops for children, ages 7 to 10. Donations can be dropped off at Bremer Machine Shop in Monett, located at 202 Seventh St. or call 235-3211 or 235-3929.

The Purdy FFA Greenhouse is currently selling plants. Purchases can be made at the greenhouse or from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 21.

The ladies of St. Lawrence Catholic Church of Monett will host the annual salad luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25 in the parish hall. Tickets are $6 and can be purchased from any of the ladies or purchased at the door.

The Pierce City Farmers' Market will open for its second season the first Saturday in May. The market will be located at the intersection of Highways 37 and 97 at Locust Street. The market will be open every Saturday, from 8 a.m. to noon, through September. Applications for sellers are available at Bookmarks in Pierce City and at city hall. The Tyson Foods "Crowin' For a Cure" Relay for Life team will host the ninth annual chicken dinner from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 21 in the south parking lot of Tyson Foods in Monett at the intersection of Kyler and County Streets. The cost is $5 per plate.

The City of Exeter will hold its city-wide garage sale on April 28. Those wishing to participate can call 417-835-2823. The annual city-wide cleanup will be held on May 1. Anyone with appliances and televisions need to call the city to arrange pick-up.
