The Lawrence County Sheriff's Office issued one ticket in the April 13 "Click It or Ticket" campaign.
Law enforcement agencies throughout Missouri participated in the statewide mobilization in an effort to get more motorists to buckle up and save lives.
During the enforcement effort, Lawrence County deputies issued a total of three traffic citations that included one seat belt ticket, one stop sign violation and one uninsured motorist ticket. Deputies also issued 33 warnings for various other traffic-related issues.
"Despite evidence proving the benefits of wearing a seat belt, nearly one in four Missouri motorists are still not making it click," said Lawrence County Sheriff Brad DeLay. "Seven out of 10 Missourians killed in traffic crashes are not buckled in.
"Seat belts are the single best defense in a crash," DeLay continued. "We will continue to encourage drivers to make the simple, smart choice to buckle up and arrive alive."
