The Pierce City R-6 Board of Education met Thursday to swear in newly elected member Michael Blinzler.
Blinzler replaces Fred Slagle, who lost his bid to retain the seat in the April 2 election.
Board members presented a plaque of appreciation to Slagle, recognizing his nine years on the board.
In other business, Jim Barchak was elected president of the R-6 Board of Education. Mike Ziebert was named vice president, and David Jones was named treasurer. Debbie Hogan will retain her position as board secretary.
The board also accepted resignations from Izetta Osmond, special education director, and from Beth Bridges, who serves as a fourth and fifth grade teacher for the district. Both resignations will take effect at the end of the 2011-12 school year.
Board members approved offering a half-time probationary contract to Duane Kaiser, vo-ag instructor, for the 2012-13 academic year.
The next regular meeting of the Pierce City R-6 Board of Education will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25 in the superintendent's conference room.
