The Tyson Foods "Crowin' For a Cure" Relay for Life team will host the ninth annual chicken dinner from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 21 in the south parking lot of Tyson Foods in Monett at the intersection of Kyler and County Streets. The cost is $5 per plate.

A spaghetti dinner will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on April 19 at the Hobbs-Anderson American Legion Hall, 717 E. Broadway in Monett. The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children under 12. Carryout is available. Proceeds will go toward the Legion youth programs.

Barry County Youth Camp is currently accepting donations for shoes, swim suits, shorts and tops for children, ages 7 to 10. Donations can be dropped off at Bremer Machine Shop in Monett, located at 202 Seventh St. or call 235-3211 or 235-3929.

The Monett Water Thrashers are looking for swimmers ages 5 to 18. Those interested need to be strong swimmers, be able to swim one length of the pool unassisted and be able to pass the red-zone swim test in the deep end of the pool. OACAC Head Start is accepting enrollment applications for its program beginning in September. Families who meet income guidelines and whose children will be age 3 or 4 before Aug. 1 are eligible to apply. For more information, call 235-3911 or 235-8779.

The second annual Monett Strawberry Festival will be held on June 1 and June 2 on Broadway in downtown Monett. Applications are now being accepted for crafts, produce growers, local manufacturers and non-profit information booths. The annual Pierce City Community Banquet will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 5 at the Pierce City Senior Center, located at 104 N. Locust. There will be an auction as a fundraiser for the Pierce City Back Pack Program. Those wishing to donate an item can call Julie Johnson at 417-476-2323 or 235-2540.

The Pierce City Farmers' Market will open for its second season the first Saturday in May. The market will be located at the intersection of Highways 37 and 97 at Locust Street. The market will be open every Saturday, from 8 a.m. to noon, through September. Applications for sellers are available at Bookmarks in Pierce City and at city hall. The City of Exeter will hold its city-wide garage sale on April 28. Those wishing to participate can call 417-835-2823. The annual city-wide cleanup will be held on May 1. Anyone with appliances and televisions need to call the city to arrange pickup.
