David Redshaw has announced his candidacy for the position of northern commissioner of Barry County.

A long-time Purdy resident that community, Redshaw, 61, served in Purdy city government for 10 years as a mayor and alderman. He has been a Purdy Fire Protection District board member for the past five years.

Redshaw, a graduate of Purdy High School, began his public service career serving four years with the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, including a tour overseas. He was honorably discharged. He attended Missouri Southern State College where he studied engineering and accounting.

For 39 years, Redshaw has been a self-employed businessman in the Purdy area, owning and operating Redshaw TV Service, 3DK Trucking and Redshaw Properties.

Redshaw has also coached teams in the Purdy Summer Youth program for 15 years as his four sons grew up in the community. He also served on the board.

Redshaw served with the fire department, responding to fires within the Purdy area and mutual aid incidents such as the Butterfield tornado and the fire on the square in Cassville.

"My record shows I am fiscally conservative," Redshaw says. "I can, and have, gotten the most out of every tax dollar, and I'm a firm believer that our government at all levels must live within its means."
